Yesterday, 21-year-old Wang Ying (a pseudonym) hugged her daughter and wept bitterly in the Fengtai Court. She once colluded with her mother to sell her daughter for 10,000 yuan, but now she deeply regrets it and says that she will definitely love her daughter even more and take on the responsibility of being a mother. The case was not immediately judged in court.
At 9 o'clock yesterday morning, Wang Ying, who was released on bail, appeared at the Fengtai Court with her mother, hugging their already one-year-old daughter. Neither of them had hired a lawyer. Her husband didn't come because he had no time as he needed to deliver milk.
Wang Ying was tried before her mother. She straightforwardly admitted to the charges from the prosecution: "I admit my guilt, I am very regretful." Wang Ying said that when the child was taken away by the buyer, the baby cried loudly, and she felt terrible at that moment but didn't have the courage to take her back. On the first night after selling the child, her breast milk accumulated so much that she couldn't sleep all night.
After the child was found and returned, the buyer asked Wang Ying for 15,000 yuan, which was 5,000 yuan more than what she received for selling her daughter, but she was still happy. "I made a mistake by selling my own daughter, I will learn from this lesson. No matter how hard life gets in the future, I will raise my child well."
After the trial ended, Wang Ying walked out of the courtroom and saw her daughter crying. She quickly took the child into her arms. "Mom is sorry to you," Wang Ying said, also crying. Because she was worried the child might be hungry, she lifted her blouse and fed the child.
Wang Ying said that after the child came back, she once felt guilty and ashamed to face others, even thinking about committing suicide. Later, her husband forgave her and persuaded her not to have any burden on her mind, encouraging her to live a good life. "After this incident, both my husband and I are closer to our child than before."
When Wang Ying's mother was subsequently tried, she also admitted her guilt. She said that she originally helped sell her granddaughter out of pity for her daughter, but now she deeply regrets it and hopes that her granddaughter won't hate her in the future.
■ Case Replay
In August last year, 20-year-old Wang Ying gave birth to a daughter. Feeling too exhausted taking care of the child, Wang Ying sold her child together with her mother to a fellow townsman who could not have children for 10,000 yuan in January this year.
After selling the child, Wang Ying lied to her husband, saying that the child had been abducted, and even dragged her husband to report the case to the police station. When the police separated the two for questioning, Wang Ying confessed to selling the child together with her mother. The police then rescued the child.

Husband Forgives Wife for Being Ignorant
Initially, when Liu Gang, Wang Ying's husband, learned that his wife and mother-in-law had sold their daughter, he was very angry and did not plead for his wife but instead asked the public security authorities to handle them according to law, planning to raise the child himself. However, yesterday, Liu Gang told reporters that he has forgiven his wife, "We are married after all."
Liu Gang said that Wang Ying was only 19 years old when they were together, "She was still like a child who hadn't grown up yet." After Wang Ying gave birth to their daughter, he knew that raising the child was exhausting for her, but he never expected her to be so ignorant as to sell the child. Liu Gang said that he was initially extremely upset, but since the incident had happened and his wife had apologized, he forgave her. "People inevitably make mistakes; as long as she doesn't repeat it in the future, that's fine."
Regarding his mother-in-law, Liu Gang said that she never apologized afterward. Although he also hated her and felt uncomfortable inside, he didn't want to hold a grudge anymore, "After all, she is an elder, so we'll try to see each other less in the future to avoid awkwardness."
