Five people wanted to take a taxi, but the driver refused, and one male passenger injured the driver and then sat in the driver's seat himself.
The Jiangcheng police stated that the nature of the case has not been finally determined. The passenger driving away the car might have been just for venting anger, not for carjacking.
In Jilin Province (reported by Tang Qi), "That man got into my car and was about to drive off with one step on the gas pedal." Around 7:40 PM on November 19th, taxi driver Nie Xiaogang was driving near the Changyi District Government office when he encountered five people wanting to take his taxi. Unexpectedly, an argument ensued, leading to him being assaulted and his car eventually being "driven" away.
Nie Xiaogang explained, "There were five of them, and my car couldn't accommodate all of them. There are also regulations prohibiting taxis from carrying so many people."
On the emergency room bed, Nie Xiaogang had obvious injuries on his right forehead and face, with dried blood on his lips. "Look at this wound on my forehead; it was bitten by that male passenger."
It was clear to see three tooth marks on Nie Xiaogang's forehead.
Recalling the scene, Nie Xiaogang was furious. "I started work early, after taking a few passengers, I drove to the No. 40 bus stop near the Changyi District Government office where two men and three women wanted to take my taxi. I said 'five people cannot fit.'"
These five people seemed to have just come out of a restaurant and got into Nie Xiaogang's car. Because the car could not carry all five, one man and one woman left first in another taxi. The remaining one man and two women got into the car. "I originally intended to take these three passengers, but that man was cursing, saying 'it's all because you've been spoiled.' So I replied, 'five people can't fit, what kind of spoiling is there?'"
Subsequently, verbal conflict arose, and the man in the back seat suddenly got out of the car, followed by the two women who also got out and began cursing. "The two women pulled my arms, while that man started hitting me from behind, grabbing my head, even shoving his hand into my mouth and biting me. I had no chance to resist," Nie Xiaogang said.
After a tussle with Nie Xiaogang, the man and two women tried to flee. Nie Xiaogang said he held onto one of the women tightly, at which point a passing taxi stopped to help. "Unexpectedly, while I was holding onto that woman, the man who hit me actually got into my car and tried to drive away."
At this point, Nie Xiaogang's face was covered in blood. The driver of the taxi that stopped to help saw the man trying to escape with the car and blocked the front. However, the man still stepped on the gas. "Almost hit the helping driver. As the car was about to run off, this driver quickly tried to open the door but failed, dragged several steps and almost fell down. He let go only after realizing he couldn't stop the car," Nie Xiaogang said. Later, he was sent to the hospital, while the woman and the helpful driver were taken away by the arriving police. He didn't even have time to ask the name of the helpful driver.
Nie Xiaogang mentioned that there were still around five or six hundred yuan of that day's earnings in the car (which were later returned by the police). Afterwards, he called the Jiangcheng Urban 110 Radio Station to locate the car.
The "stolen" car was found parked at the entrance of a residential area.
Taxi drivers who heard the radio message began paying attention to the "stolen" taxi. Around 9 PM, Wang Fengshan, a taxi driver, called the Urban 110 station, "I found the missing taxi at the south gate of Yiliya Ju Yuan."
"At that time, I was driving a female passenger. After reaching the destination and turning around, I shone my headlights and saw the license plate number broadcasted on the radio," Wang Fengshan said. He paused for a moment, worried that the criminal might still be in the car, so he picked up a small iron shovel and held it in his hand. Upon reaching the car, he found no one inside, and the car keys were missing. Subsequently, more than ten taxi drivers from the Jiangcheng Integrity Car Radio arrived at the scene. One of the drivers kicked the tire, and the alarm went off. "You see, the turn signal light is still on. This person must be an experienced driver," Wang Fengshan said.
The assailant is now under investigation.
Subsequently, Nie Xiaogang's relatives arrived at the scene, brought a spare key, and drove the car away.
According to relatives, the man and two women have been found and are currently under investigation.
It is understood that the case is now handled by the Taxi Police Station. On the day of the incident, several relatives gathered and drank a lot of alcohol. When they came out, they wanted to take Nie Xiaogang's taxi, but due to the inability to accommodate five people, an argument occurred.
According to the police, the nature of the case has not yet been finally determined. If it was intentional, it could be classified as robbery. However, considering the entire process of this case, it should be considered as a continuation of assaulting others. Driving away the car might have been just for venting anger, not for carjacking. The man might confess after sobering up. If the facts of the assault are clear, administrative detention should be imposed.
