Now Network News: A shower room set costing two thousand yuan had its glass door burst for no reason within a month of use. Not only did the store refuse compensation, but they also blamed the customer for having bad luck and suggested he should just accept his misfortune.

Mr. Xia Yongfan, a citizen, reported that on the 11th of last month, he purchased a shower room set made of tempered glass for 2080 yuan from the Caodian Chengdong Decoration Building Materials Store and installed it in his new house. On the evening before last night, while he was taking a shower, the shower room suddenly shattered into pieces. However, when he went to the store to reason with them, the store claimed that according to industry practice, due to the fragility of glass products, there is no "three guarantees" (repair, replacement, or refund) policy in this industry. They said they could replace the door, but would have to charge for the cost. The store also said, "If you want to blame someone, you can only blame yourself, who told you that you have bad luck?"

Feeling helpless, Mr. Xia then complained to the Caodian Jianxin Industry and Commerce Office. After an investigation, the industry and commerce personnel believed that according to the provisions of the "Product Quality Law" and the "Consumer Rights Protection Law," fragile items and other products with special requirements should be marked with warning signs or Chinese warning instructions as required by relevant regulations. Since the store did not inform consumers that the self-explosion rate of glass products could be as high as three per thousand, they could not refuse compensation based on relevant industry standards. After mediation, the store eventually agreed to replace the glass door for Mr. Xia for free and paid him 20 yuan for transportation costs related to his complaint. Yesterday, Mr. Xia informed that the store had already replaced the new glass door for him.
