Our newspaper report (by reporter Yongjun Yi) - Walking along the railway line, only one meter away from the tracks, a train was approaching with its horn blaring, yet an elderly 65-year-old man remained completely unaware and was blown about five meters away by the wind generated by the train... Yesterday afternoon, the old man was still being treated in the ICU ward and remains in critical condition.

At around 4 PM on the 5th, the K589 train traveling from Beijing West to Chongqing was passing near the Beibei Mojingpo section when the driver suddenly spotted someone walking along the tracks, approximately one meter away. He immediately sounded the horn, but the person showed no reaction. The driver quickly applied the brakes, but due to the strong inertia, the train slid for about one kilometer before coming to a stop. After stopping, the passengers disembarked and found a man in his sixties lying beside the tracks, severely injured. They immediately called 110 and 120.

After investigating the scene, the police officers from the railway station determined that because this area is relatively remote, the elderly man walking beside the tracks was not easily noticed by the railway patrol personnel. The man was knocked down by the wind generated by the speeding train traveling at 120 kilometers per hour and was subsequently thrown about five meters away.

Yesterday afternoon, at the intensive care unit of Beibei District Central Hospital, I saw that the elderly man was still receiving treatment. The doctor said that the man's name is Chengwan Liu, 65 years old, with multiple left-sided rib fractures, left-sided hemothorax and pneumothorax, pulmonary contusion, and abrasions all over his body. He remains in critical condition.

The elderly man has regained some consciousness. He mentioned that he was married when he was younger, but his wife later left him and he has no children. At the time of the incident, he was looking for a place to stay near the train station. To save time, he walked along the tracks, but because of his hearing impairment, he did not hear the train's horn.

The police remind everyone that it is absolutely prohibited to walk on railway tracks, and one should not take their life lightly. (Thank you to Mr. Feng for providing the news lead.)
