Yangcheng Evening News report by reporter Yushan Lu and intern Wenyu Chen: In September of last year, police officer Weiquan Luo and auxiliary police Yonggen He from the Jiufotown Police Station in Luogang District were brutally attacked by a thug while responding to an emergency call. As a result, Officer Luo suffered serious injuries and Auxiliary Policeman He was killed in the line of duty. On the morning of February 2nd, Dunchao Feng, who caused one death and one seriously injured officer, appeared in court at the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court where the court heard the related civil litigation part of this case.

During the trial, due to the pain of losing her son, Mother He became emotionally agitated —— she angrily condemned Dunchao Feng for his inhumanity and brutal methods that cost her young and strong son his life. Facing the family of He's demand for capital punishment, Dunchao Feng absurdly claimed in court that it was a personal threat against him from the deceased’s family... Meanwhile, the family of He also demanded Dunchao Feng compensate them with over 410,000 yuan. Dunchao Feng stated that he was willing to use the money obtained from the land requisition at his home for compensation.

On September 19th of last year, after having a dispute with his family, Dunchao Feng took a woodcutter's knife and rode out, intending to vent his resentment by committing murder. Along the way, Dunchao Feng first smashed the front and rear windshields of a Honda Civic parked on Jiulong Avenue, after which the car owner, Zhi Jun Chen, immediately reported the incident to the police. After receiving the emergency call, Officer Weiquan Luo and Auxiliary Policeman Yonggen He from Jiufotown Police Station immediately rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they intercepted the suspect near the Fruit World on Jiulong Avenue and ordered him to drop the woodcutter's knife. However, Dunchao Feng refused to listen and instead attacked the officers with the knife, causing Officer Luo's right wrist to be severed, and three cuts on his face, abdomen, and leg, leaving him seriously injured and unconscious on the spot. Auxiliary Policeman He suffered multiple stab wounds, including a severed major artery in his neck, leading to excessive blood loss and eventually succumbing to his injuries despite medical efforts. Afterwards, Dunchao Feng fled the scene and turned himself in to the police later that afternoon.

It is understood that Dunchao Feng has an introverted personality but is impulsive, rarely communicating with others, yet often engaging in conflicts with them. Since resigning in December 2008 after a fight with a colleague led to disputes, he had been unemployed at home. Dunchao Feng felt disrespected by his father and younger brother at home. The ridicule and sarcasm from his family members added immense pressure to him. Especially a few days before the incident when his father spat on him, he wanted to accomplish something "big" to draw attention from his family, thus forming the intention to go out and commit murder with the woodcutter's knife.

This case is still under further review.
