According to reports, Wang from Kailu County, Tongliao City in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region lived together or registered marriage with five men under the name of husband and wife. She also deceived three men of 20,000 yuan under the pretext of being in love and getting married. Recently, she was sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment and fined 20,000 yuan by the People's Court of Kailu County for fraud and bigamy.
After investigation by the People's Court of Kailu County, it was found that defendant Ms Wang married Mr Sun back in her hometown in 1986. In 1995, during the existence of her first marriage, she had her second marriage with a Mr Wang in Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province. After wandering around for more than 10 years, in 2005, Ms Wang returned to her hometown Kailu County and started her third marriage with a Mr Sun. However, this marriage ended in less than a year. From 2006 to 2008, she lived together or registered marriage with another two men under the name of husband and wife.
After going through so many marriages, the defendant Ms Wang wanted to obtain some economic benefits in the name of engagement and marriage. Thus, she began looking for single men who were eager to get married to defraud money. From November 2008 to April 2009, Ms Wang defrauded more than 20,000 yuan as dowry money from three men under the pretext of being engaged.
The court believed after trial that defendant Ms Wang registered marriage or lived together with others under the name of husband and wife during the existence of her marriage relationship, which constituted the crime of bigamy; she also defrauded others' legal property under the false pretense of getting married with others, involving relatively large amount, constituting the crime of fraud, which should be punished according to law. Therefore, the above-mentioned judgment was made.
