A pair of beautiful, bright eyes holds an important place among the five human features. Although the beauty of the eyes is not judged by whether they are single or double-lidded, generally speaking, single-lidded eyes tend to be smaller and lack expressiveness, while double-lidded eyes are wider and longer with upward-curving eyelashes, appearing brighter and more spirited.
Currently, there are many surgical methods for creating double eyelids, which can roughly be divided into two categories:
(1) Buried Suture Method: This method is suitable for younger individuals whose upper eyelids are not loose or puffy. The upper eyelid skin is not cut, or only a very small incision is made, and a special medical suture is embedded and left in place long-term. It can also be removed after a certain period following the formation of the double eyelid. This surgical method is simple, leaves no visible marks, takes about 10 minutes, is virtually painless, and if the surgery is unsatisfactory, the method of cutting the upper eyelid skin can be used instead.
(2) Skin Incision Method: This type of surgery is suitable for people with excessive fat in the upper eyelids or those with seriously loose upper eyelid skin. After making an incision in the skin, fat and skin are removed before forming the double eyelid. This method creates a very stable double eyelid fold, causes the lashes to curl upwards, lifts the outer corners of the eyes, making them appear more spirited. The surgical effect is permanent and the entire process takes about half an hour. The surgery is basically painless and no bandaging is required after the operation.
Double eyelid surgery must be tailored to the individual and cannot be uniformly enforced. Decisions should be based on each person's face shape, eye shape, the size of the eye socket, the relative position of the eye socket and the eyeball, the width of the upper eyelid, as well as the thickness and texture of the skin. Therefore, before undergoing double eyelid surgery, thorough discussion and negotiation with the doctor is necessary to make an accurate judgment about the post-surgical appearance. It is especially important not to casually undergo surgery at just any beauty salon.
