● Student: I was hit four times in total. My face felt like it was on fire, my vision went black, my ears were ringing, and I felt nauseous.

● Teacher: The car was borrowed from a friend. There were scratches on the body of the car, and I was worried about not being able to return it in good condition, so in a rush of panic, I hit the students.

During the break, three seventh-grade students drew graffiti on a small car parked by the teacher. The teacher became furious, ordering the three to stand in a row and then slapped them one by one. One of the students named Wang Lin (a pseudonym) tried to defend himself and ended up receiving three extra slaps. Wang Lin immediately felt unwell and was later diagnosed with "external brain injury."

Yesterday, the involved teacher admitted that he was too impulsive at the time and did not control his emotions well. He deeply regretted his actions and sincerely apologized to the student and his parents; the principal stated that they will first focus on treating the injuries and then seriously deal with the person who hit the students.

Three students received slaps for drawing graffiti on the car

Wang Lin, 12 years old, is a student in the seventh grade (Class 4) at the Sixth Middle School of Bazhong. Yesterday at noon, when we met him at the emergency department of the Central Hospital of Bazhong, Wang Lin was lying on the bed sleeping soundly. The medical record card by his bed read "external brain injury." Although he had been hospitalized for three days, he still complained of "pain in the ear, unable to eat, feeling nauseous."

Wang Lin recalled that during the last class on the morning of the 18th, which should have been PE, while preparing for the class, all the students hid under the shade of the trees on the playground to cool off. He and two other classmates used their fingers to draw pictures on a dusty Volkswagen car.

Just as they were having fun drawing, a teacher walked over, "What are you doing?" The teacher asked loudly, and none of them dared to answer. "Why are you doing this!" As he said this, he slapped Wang Lin twice.

"They were all drawing, why only hit me?" Wang Lin defended himself quietly. "Are you still arguing?" The teacher became even angrier, ordering the three to stand in a row and took turns slapping them.

"I was hit four times in total. My face felt like it was on fire, my vision went black, my ears were ringing, and I felt nauseous," Wang Lin recalled how he felt at the time.

After the slaps, the students were made to stand in the sun

Wang Lin said that when they were being hit, the PE teacher was standing nearby watching. Not only did he not stop it, but he also scolded them, "This is still light. If it happened outside the school, you would be beaten and kicked."

The incident did not end there. The teacher who hit them ordered them to stand as punishment on the track. Under the blazing sun, the three stood until the PE class ended.

After school at noon, due to unbearable pain, Wang Lin called his parents and went to the hospital for a check-up. The other two students were found to be fine after the examination and continued attending school in the afternoon.

"The child doesn't want to eat, feels nauseous. Yesterday, the ENT doctor checked him and found stones in his ear. We can only wait for the stones to be removed before checking if the eardrum is damaged," Mr. Wang said yesterday at noon. Wang Lin had no appetite and couldn't eat any food. His father was very concerned about his son's physical condition.

The involved teacher sincerely apologized to the student

That night, the teacher who hit the students came to the hospital to visit Wang Lin and apologized to him and his father.

Regarding the matter of his son being hit, Mr. Wang believed that although the child was mischievous, he did not scratch the car. Even if there were scratches, compensation could be provided, but the teacher should not have hit the students in front of so many others, and the blows were too severe. This wasn't corporal punishment, but intentional harm.

It was learned that the teacher who hit the students is surnamed Zhang and teaches PE to the second year of high school at the school. Yesterday, Zhang teacher said in a telephone interview that the car was not his own but borrowed from a friend. At the time, there were slight scratches on the body of the car, and he was worried about not being able to return it properly, so in a panic, he hit several students. "Hitting people is definitely wrong, but I didn't lose control completely. I've already apologized to them multiple times, I'm really sorry, and I will definitely learn from this experience."

School principal pays medical expenses

Regarding this incident, Principal Zhou Bang'an clearly stated, "Teachers hitting students is certainly wrong. We have criticized and educated the involved teacher and communicated with the parents of the students. Currently, the priority is to treat the injuries, and the medical expenses will be covered by the school. In the future, we will definitely handle the teacher who hit the students seriously."
