On the morning of April 2nd, a post on Sina Weibo (http://t.sina.com.cn) caught the attention of many microblog users: "A comrade from Wenzhou just called me to tell me that his father, Chen Guanghua, was involved in a car accident four days ago. He is currently in the ICU of the Third People's Hospital of Wenzhou on the 16th floor of the inpatient department and urgently needs blood. Since this blood type is relatively rare, it is AB negative RH blood type. I hope I can help him find this rare blood type through Weibo."

At 6:48 yesterday morning, the netizen who helped the comrade post the search for blood sources continued to post on Weibo:

"Yesterday was the first day of the 'Weibo Big Action' to urgently find 'Panda Blood'. Although we received strong support and enthusiastic forwarding from microblog users, the situation is still not very optimistic. The family said that fresh blood must be used on the day of surgery on Tuesday, and so far the blood source is still insufficient to ensure normal surgery. I hope everyone continues to look for 'AB negative RH blood type' blood donation volunteers!" After the text, there was a link to the full article on page 3 of our newspaper on April 2nd titled "Weibo Big Action Urgently Seeking Panda Blood".

At 12:36 PM yesterday, the original poster on Weibo, also the comrade of Chen Guanghua's son, Chen Lei, informed concerned friends via Weibo:

"I officially inform everyone that the forwarding of posts looking for panda blood can stop. Please inform each other!!! Around noon, my comrade Chen Lei from Wenzhou called me to tell me that after the hospital's statistics and decision, fresh blood can basically guarantee normal surgery on Tuesday. He repeatedly entrusted me to thank all the friends who care about his father's condition on behalf of his entire family! Thank you for your loving support! Thank you all!"

The Times Weibo continuously updates the situation

April 2nd, 20:57

I just confirmed with Chen Wei; the Zhejiang Blood Center should currently have the required blood type! It is hoped that the local health department can promptly contact the patient's family. We will continue to help him. Our assistance continues, and we are recruiting volunteers.

Mr. Cai sent us the latest information: the surgical blood is basically sufficient, but whether the surgery will be successful is what everyone is now worried about. Let's pray together.

April 3rd, 15:49

Pray, success. Last night, in order to help find panda blood donors, we mobilized various resources, and hearing that the blood source has been secured, we are very happy.

"Neck wearers" enthusiastically comment "Miracles are the result of effort"

Ma Yue: In the 1980s, the Japanese TV drama "Blood Doubts" swept the nation. Yoko Hamada played the role of Sachiko, who had leukemia, and the treatment required "RH negative AB blood". In the plot, this rare blood type twisted love, family ties, and ethics. In 1999, I also donated blood, forwarded, hoping to find kind-hearted people who can help the patient!! (11:40)

Smiling Mountain Rain: Forwarding this Weibo: Miracles are the result of effort, hoping that through everyone's efforts, the elderly person can smoothly undergo surgery. (10:11)

Dream of a Fish: Not disappointed at this moment, the next moment there will be hope~! Expecting panda blood~! (09:00)

Fu Ruigang: From student times to now, I have donated blood six times. Unfortunately, I am B-type blood, not "AB negative RH blood type". To save a life, I sincerely ask all good friends to help forward. If there are friends around who work in hospitals, please help inquire. Thank you all. (07:02)

Wenzhou Blood Station: Collected blood by two o'clock in the afternoon

Starting at nine o'clock in the morning yesterday, three AB negative RH blood type loving donors gradually arrived at the Wenzhou Central Blood Station. They were all called by the central blood station and came one after another.

Zhou Changping, 23 years old, from Sichuan, works as a designer at the Golden Key Lock Company in Wenzhou. "Originally, I was supposed to work overtime today and planned to come tomorrow to donate blood, but I was afraid that Mr. Chen's family would be anxious, so I decided to come today."

This is Zhou Changping's third time coming to the Wenzhou Blood Station to donate blood. "I only knew in 2008 that I have this rare blood type, it feels quite magical, like I'm needed by others." Zhou Changping said, "I only knew during blood donation, I never heard of this blood type before. Now that an uncle needs it, I feel I should come to donate blood."

Two young men agreed with Zhou Changping's thoughts. They refused to give their names, each donating 300ml. "There's nothing much to say, I help others, and someday others will help me." In addition, several AB negative RH blood type volunteers said they would come to the blood station on Monday to donate blood in preparation for post-surgery use.

Zhou Changping said, "As long as my body allows, I will try to donate blood once a year in the future."

Yesterday, Hu Yuyin, a staff member of the Wenzhou Blood Station, also gave up her vacation and has been helping Uncle Chen all along. "I didn't expect that within half a day, I could collect 900ml of blood, such a rare blood type prepared so quickly, it's rare. We need to thank all those who came to donate blood, they are all kind-hearted people."

At two o'clock in the afternoon yesterday, Chen Lei received a call from the Wenzhou Blood Station, "The blood for surgery is guaranteed, please rest assured."

Family deeply grateful, Grandpa Chen's consciousness is gradually recovering

At three o'clock in the afternoon yesterday, Chen Lei happily told the reporter, "Today is the sixth day my father has been hospitalized, he finally regained consciousness. When I asked him where it hurts, he pointed it out to me."

"Now my father's consciousness is not completely clear yet, when he gets better little by little, I want to tell him the whole process of this matter, how many people miss him, and how many people volunteer to donate blood." Chen Lei said, "When he fully recovers, if his physical condition allows, I will encourage him to go donate blood."

In the phone call, Chen Lei was very excited. "I really can't express it, at first, I was extremely worried, now I can finally see some hope." Chen Lei said, "It really touched our entire family. Many of the people who came to donate blood don't like to say their names, and those who called me saying they were willing to come from afar to donate blood didn't mind the journey."

Chen Lei entrusted our newspaper to express gratitude to all blood donors and also to thank all kind-hearted people who paid attention to Grandpa Chen.

Currently, Grandpa Chen's surgery date is set for April 6th. Grandpa Chen's attending physician Li Jie said, "Finding a blood source is very difficult, we will do our utmost to ensure the surgery goes smoothly."

Let's wait quietly for good news. Wish Grandpa Chen a speedy recovery.
