I am a boring and weird person. Therefore, I have been hanging out for a long time on Douban's groups like "We Love to Tell Cold Jokes", "The King of Cosmic Awkward Movies", and "Douban Sightseeing Group" to enjoy and participate in those earnest parodies, admire all sorts of absurd things and extraordinary people, which is one of the pleasures of my life.
Douban is a place where the mainstream crowd are from the post-80s and post-90s generations, something I knew early on, but never felt it had anything to do with me. This is an era of the internet where heroes don't need to worry about their origins, and abnormalities don't need to worry about age. Star factories, moreover, I am such a professional abnormality. I usually don't do things that suit my age, so I often forget what age group I should belong to.
A few days ago, the Cold Group broke out into a big war between the post-80s and post-90s. The reason was a child's post:
"Please leave the group if you're from the 80s
January 16, 2009 11:58:53 From: Satiated Mix Waiting to Die (Beijing)
This place used to belong to you
Now and in the future it belongs to the 90s
Please leave the group voluntarily"
Truly, the latter generation pushes the former one aside, and new people replace the old ones so quickly, metabolism has already begun. If the post-80s are going to be driven away, then how should I, a person from the 70s, settle? Watching the continuously rising skyscrapers and constantly appearing new posts, watching a battle that has nothing to do with myself unfold, I suddenly, for the first time, discovered that I have already been eliminated. For the first time, I feel a mix of emotions about age issues, unable to clearly express my feelings.
There must be more than just me who think this way, because soon someone shyly posted, "Are there any people from the 70s here?"
My heart warmed up, and I was just about to jump out and find my group, but hesitated and decided to wait and see. Don't get into trouble by attracting attention during the peak of the conflict.
Sure enough, after 20 minutes, with thousands of views, no one replied to the post, so I chose to quietly dive back under the water.
The age war seems to have passed these two days, but the shock it gave me still continues: Do we necessarily have to hold ourselves up and act solemnly? Originally, I thought how to live was my own business, but now I realize that the public is helping to supervise me. The newly grown generation is so eager to require you to be a kind elder, and it seems that sharing joy with the common people is a luxury.
Remember when kids always complained that adults and teachers were too serious and lacked childlike innocence? Now I finally understand, some of them were forced to be like that.
