Trees in winter are solemn,

Even more concise and straightforward.

They shed the tenderness of spring,

The brilliance of summer,

The splendor of autumn,

And become a sharp sword,

Pointing straight to the sky,

Standing there with integrity.

Rain comes,

Frost comes,

Ice comes,

Snow comes,

It faces them all calmly,

Shoulders them all generously.

No need for leaves to applaud beside it,

Nor for the wind to stir around it.

A tree is a tree,

Silently bearing what it should bear,

Calmly facing what it should face.

Having lost the lushness and beauty that leaves once brought,

It has also discarded complexity and burden.

A tree full of leaves in summer can be snapped by fierce winds,

But trees in winter, in the midst of gales,

Either stand upright or fall,

Yet they will not bend,

Because

They have abandoned the superfluous and burdensome.

Simplicity is the most beautiful.

I like trees in winter,

I like the simplicity and integrity of winter trees.
