Electronic Police On-site Capture

January 17, 2004, 09:34 AM Urban Express

This year during the Spring Festival travel rush, Guangdong's public security traffic police department has, for the first time, utilized mobile "electronic police" to capture traffic violations. Over 50 "digital combat vehicles" have been deployed on various highways, national roads, and provincial roads in Guangdong.

Each digital combat vehicle is equipped with a miniature speed-detection radar, a digital video camera, and a laptop computer. As soon as an overspeeding vehicle passes by, the radar can detect the speeding, and the camera automatically captures images.

Whenever there’s a traffic violation, the "digital combat vehicle" immediately sounds an alarm. The digital video camera can capture three dynamic photos of the violating vehicle in one go. These photos truthfully record the violating speed, location, time, and license plate number of the offending vehicle. (According to Yangcheng Evening News)
