After the Earthquake: A Message to the Living

In an instant, the world turned dim,

No more light,

No more electricity,

Heaven became earth,

Earth became heaven.

I didn't know if it was the end of the world,

Or if I had arrived in the underworld.

My dear baby,

Mom can no longer raise you to adulthood.

From now on, countless hardships on life's journey

Will have to be crossed by yourself.

White-haired mother,

From now on, you will lean on your cane and vainly look out the window.

Husband, my love,

From now on, we will be separated by the heavens.

We won't be able to support each other through life or grow old together.

Who knew life was so fragile,

That life was so short.

Who tore apart our bodies?

Who destroyed our home?

Who took away our loved ones?

And who made the seas turn into mulberry fields?

Is it God? Superman Ten - pickles and fish, is it nature? Is it me? Or something else?

Ah, selected prose and novels, O Heaven,

If you could give me one more chance at life,

Let me finish raising my baby,

Let me watch him grow up,

Then I would die without regret.

Ah, haircuts, O God,

My mother is already advanced in age,

Why let me go before her,

Let her endure the torment of living because of me,

The hardship of surviving.

All of this shouldn't be,

Yet everything is truly right here before our eyes.

Living people,

This is my heartfelt message before death,

The departed have gone,

I hope the living can cherish life,

Finish with care what the living should treasure,

Don't make excuses anymore,

Go home and visit often.
