The construction site has dug a pit nearly 10 meters deep, only about 10 meters away from the residential building. Photographed by reporter Jiale Zhu of our newspaper.

According to reports, the ongoing construction project is a commercial housing project jointly developed by two real estate companies. A person in charge from the developer side said that they were aware of the matter, and relevant professional institutions had conducted appraisals on the cracks. The appraisal results indicated that the cracks were unrelated to the construction work at the site.

Under these doubts, yesterday morning, more than 20 residents of three buildings held banners in front of the construction gate to protest against the construction work. Mr. Li said that they had previously organized residents to stop the construction work, and the developers had also hired surveying institutions for investigation, but the investigation results were not published.

Residents of Runjie Classic Community in Changping District said that since February this year, there has been construction outside the northern fence of the community. Currently, the foundation excavation is still ongoing. The excavation site is only about 10 meters away from the residential buildings, and the depth has already reached about 10 meters. The first cracks appeared on the north fence of the community. Residents told reporters that in early April, the residents of buildings 5, 6, and 7 near the north wall discovered multiple cracks on the northern fence of the community, and many of the cracks extended upward from the bottom. After the cracks appeared on the fence, some residents in the three buildings also found cracks inside their homes.

Our news (intern reporter Jian Zhang) Starting from the beginning of this month, residents of Runjie Classic Community in Changping District discovered multiple cracks on the northern fence of the community, and cracks also appeared on the walls of some residents' homes. Residents suspected that this was related to the construction work at the construction site to the north of the community. In response to this accusation, the developer denied it.

Yesterday morning, I saw at the front of buildings 5, 6, and 7 in the community that there were already cracks at the lowest end of the building body, and the north fence also cracked. Some residents in the three buildings also found cracks inside their homes, with the longest reaching about two meters. Residents of these three buildings are worried that if the construction continues, it may cause larger cracks in the buildings and fences, or even turn their houses into dangerous ones.

Mr. Li, a resident of Building 6, said that they had lived here for many years without any problems with the house. However, within two months after the adjacent construction site started digging pits, cracks began to appear on the fence and in their homes, and the cracks continued to spread gradually. "The appearance of cracks must be related to the construction nearby."
