Is it possible to come up with a play that better sums up the Celtics’ season than Manu Ginobili’s block on Kevin Garnett last night? As Garnett crumbled to the ground, you couldn’t help but think to yourself, "This doesn’t happen to the old Kevin Garnett. The old Kevin Garnett powers through Ginobili and takes the rim down with him." The 2010 Kevin Garnett, however, lies on the ground as a broken and battered man, trying to come to grips with the idea that his body can no longer do what it once could. All this from a blocked shot by Manu Ginobili, who is no young stallion himself. Hell, could you come up with a better game to sum up Boston’s struggles than last night? Just when it seemed like the Celtics were turning a corner—Marcus Thornton’s dream rookie season continues...—they get blown out at home by a team that makes them look old and slow. The Celtics looked like a fallen champion, and worse, it came against a Spurs team that’s pretty old themselves. It was enough to remind several people of the Miami Heat, the last champion to fade into obscurity very quickly due to age. Yikes.
