The giant egg on the left weighs 170 grams. The hen that laid the giant egg. According to reports from Jingdezhen (by reporter Cheng Wanhai and photographer Yu Wenbin), in Baojia Village of Baila Township, Leping City, there is a "celebrity hen" that has laid giant eggs for three consecutive years, earning it the nickname "battle hen".
It was reported that on the 22nd of this month, this barred rock hen, which looks no different from other hens in appearance and size, laid a giant egg weighing 170 grams, measuring approximately 9.5 centimeters in length and having a diameter of 21.5 centimeters. The reporter randomly selected several ordinary eggs and found that their weight was around 45 grams, meaning that this giant egg weighs more than three regular eggs.
Villager Zheng Haifa, who raises this hen, introduced to the reporter that this hen is only four years old and eats the same food as other hens. However, since it was two years old, it has continuously surprised people by laying super-sized giant eggs: On July 16th of the year before last, it laid a giant egg weighing 155 grams; on September 27th of last year, it laid another 155-gram giant egg; on March 16th of this year, it laid a giant egg (which broke and could not be weighed); and on the 22nd of this month, it laid a giant egg weighing 170 grams.
Zheng Haifa also told the reporter that because his family had eaten the previous three giant eggs, he knows that these giant eggs were all double-yolked eggs and even contained eggs within eggs. Regarding the heaviest egg laid on the 22nd, Zheng Haifa admitted that he was reluctant to eat it and wanted to help it apply for a world record.
