Scabies Transmission Routes
The transmission routes of scabies include direct contact transmission, indirect contact transmission, and sexual contact transmission, among which sexual contact transmission is the strongest, accounting for more than 90%.
1. Route of direct contact transmission: Infection with scabies occurs through close contact with infected individuals, mainly through hugging, shaking hands, caressing, or even having sexual intercourse with scabies patients, all of which can easily lead to infection.
2. Indirect contact transmission route: This involves contacting items used by scabies patients such as clothing and daily necessities, or things that scabies patients have touched. Contacting these items could also possibly lead to infection.
3. Sexual contact transmission: Sexual activity and sexual contact are the strongest transmission routes of scabies and are also important ways of spreading the disease. Therefore, during scabies treatment, if the patient is married, both spouses must simultaneously take preventive measures and undergo treatment to avoid cross-infection and repeated outbreaks.
In summary, scabies is contagious, with a large number of transmission routes and very strong infectivity. Thus, extra caution must be exercised in daily life!
How do we prevent scabies in our daily lives? The following points should be observed:
1. Pay attention to personal hygiene; contaminated clothes, bedding, and bed sheets should be boiled in hot water to kill bugs. If they cannot be boiled, they must be placed under the sun for more than a week before use.
2. Abstain from unsafe sex to avoid cross-contamination.
3. When traveling and staying at hotels, it's best to bring your own duvet cover and bedsheet, bathe frequently, change clothes regularly, and develop good hygiene habits.
After contracting scabies, proper care should be taken during treatment. First, thoroughly disinfect any potentially contaminated clothes, bedding, and daily necessities. Second, avoid excessive scratching, trim nails promptly to prevent secondary infections like impetigo. Medication application, bathing, and changing clothes should be done in a timely manner. If one product does not yield ideal results, inform the doctor immediately so they can provide a more appropriate treatment plan.
