Our city launches the "Holding Hands to Get Rich" and "Village-Enterprise Pairing" prosperity projects

This morning, the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government solemnly held the launching ceremony of the Municipal Party Committee's poverty alleviation team setting out and the "Holding Hands to Get Rich" and "Village-Enterprise Paired Joint Construction" project. This year, our city will provide assistance to more than 68,000 poor households across the city and implement paired assistance between villages and enterprises for over 1,800 villages with annual incomes below 200,000 yuan. Zhao Peng, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, attended the meeting and delivered an important speech. Li Chi, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, also attended the meeting.

In his speech, Zhao Peng first extended warm greetings on behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government to all sectors of society who have been caring about and supporting the development of poverty alleviation and rural economy over a long period. He expressed sincere thanks to all members who obey the overall situation, are not afraid of hardship, and actively participate in poverty alleviation work in economically weak areas. Zhao Peng further mobilized and deployed the "Holding Hands to Get Rich" and "Village-Enterprise Paired" projects, expressing earnest hopes for the Municipal Party Committee's poverty alleviation team. He said that to solve the problem of absolute poverty in our city, the key lies in rural areas, and the difficulty lies with the poor households. Therefore, helping low-income households get rid of poverty and promoting the development of village-level economies is the top priority of our city's poverty alleviation work. The launch of the two major projects, "Holding Hands to Get Rich" and "Village-Enterprise Paired," today is an important measure for our city to increase the intensity of poverty alleviation and promote the rapid development of the rural economy. Zhao Peng requested that the organs and large-scale enterprises in various counties (cities, districts) take immediate action and actively participate in these two major projects. All members of the poverty alleviation team should remember their mission, be willing to make contributions, constantly enhance their feelings with farmers, improve their ability to do rural work, and actively come up with practical strategies and handle practical matters to increase farmers' income. Party and government cadres at all levels should change their concepts, enhance their sense of responsibility and obligation, provide household-level poverty alleviation, help low-income households solve problems such as lack of funds, technology, and channels, help them improve living conditions, and broaden their paths to wealth. Large-scale enterprises should adapt to local conditions, fully leverage their own advantages, help paired villages clarify development ideas, and enhance their development capabilities.

At the meeting, Zhao Peng presented flags one by one to the Municipal Party Committee's poverty alleviation teams stationed in Funing, Sheyang, and Jianhu counties, as well as the 17 townships. Li Chi, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, presided over today's conference. Zhang Dali, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Minister of Organization, announced the list of the positive and deputy captains of the Municipal Party Committee's poverty alleviation team for the 2008-2009 period. The meeting also held the signing ceremony for the "Village-Enterprise Paired Joint Construction" project. Responsible persons from relevant departments and representatives of the poverty alleviation team made commitment speeches.

Leaders of the city including Chen Zhengbang, Dai Yuanhu, He Guiying, Chen Huantang, Gu Jiadong, and Cui Shiming attended the meeting.
