Xinhua News Agency, Taiyuan, December 6th - The 2009 Shanxi Overseas High-level Talents Service Week event recently concluded in Taiyuan. Ninety-two overseas high-level talents from twelve countries including the United States, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia conducted negotiations, technical consultations, and talent对接activities around 101 projects.
According to reports, a total of forty-eight cooperation agreements were signed during this overseas talent service week event. Among them, there were twelve talent introduction projects, introducing two post-doctoral researchers and nine doctoral degree holders; thirty-two technical cooperation projects involving new technologies such as energy conservation, emission reduction, ecological environmental protection, nanotechnology, inorganic non-metallic materials, automatic control, catalytic chemistry, and biological pharmaceuticals among others. These projects also included new products and emerging industries such as tourism, finance, logistics, and animation. Many of these projects have high technological content and good prospects for promotion and application, reaching international or domestic leading levels. In addition, two investment and technical cooperation projects were reached with a total agreed funding amount of RMB 52 million yuan; and two other cooperative projects were also agreed upon.
Some media reported that the signing and implementation of these cooperative projects will be significant for Shanxi to make full use of both international and domestic talent resources, promote adjustments in the local provincial economic structure, and facilitate transformation and development.
The head of the Shanxi Provincial Leading Group for the Introduction of Overseas High-level Talents introduced that Shanxi will track the results of the signed agreements, test the effectiveness of the signings, evaluate the对接situations of various projects, summarize good practices and experiences, and actively assist all signatory units in deepening and expanding the results of cooperation.
At the same time, Shanxi will continue to improve mechanisms for information release, key recommendations, and daily contact services for overseas high-level talents, providing comprehensive services for overseas talents to start businesses and develop in Shanxi.
