After the Dalian Intermediate People's Court reviewed this case, it was determined that although Liu's behavior constituted a voluntary surrender, given his deep malicious intent, cruel method of committing the crime, and the fact that he caused the death of two people, his crimes were considered extremely serious and therefore did not warrant a lighter punishment. On November 9th of this year, the court made a first-instance judgment on this case, sentencing Liu for intentional homicide with the penalty of death. The court also ordered him to compensate the victims' families with 527,500 yuan.

After entering the store, Liu claimed he wanted to buy a lighter and a bottle of drink and indicated he wanted to purchase on credit. Seeing that Liu seemed off, Xu only gave him the items without daring to talk much with him. After buying the items, Liu suddenly admitted to killing someone, but Xu thought Liu was joking and didn't take it seriously. Afterward, Liu directly walked toward the police booth.

" After killing someone, I sang while walking towards the police booth; I wanted to tell the police that I had killed someone..." In June this year, a bloody incident occurred on the Xilu Road in Zhoujia Village, Changcheng Street, Lushunkou District. Villagers Mr. and Mrs. Wang were found dead near their home. After committing the murder with an iron cane, the perpetrator actually left the scene singing.

A civil dispute ultimately led to a tragedy. The murderer, originally the plaintiff in a civil case, became the defendant in a criminal case. On November 9th this year, the court sentenced the murderer to death.

During the trial process, villager Zhou's testimony in court revealed the conflict between Liu and Wang families. Zhou introduced that in 2006, after his father passed away, he asked Liu, Wang, and others to go up the mountain to dig graves. While working, Liu fell from a tree, and later developed blood clots in his leg. To seek compensation, Liu sued Zhou and others in court. During the court's hearing of this civil case, Wang testified as a witness. Liu believed that Wang arranged for him to climb the tree to cut branches, but Wang stated that he did not ask Liu to cut branches. The two had argued in court. Later, the court's first-instance judgment ordered defendants like Zhou to compensate Liu with over 45,000 yuan. Zhou expressed that after that, Liu always said that Wang's false testimony in court harmed him.

After the tragedy, villagers discussed it widely. Besides feeling sorry for the death of the elderly couple, they could not understand Liu's brutal behavior. What reason drove him to such extreme measures? As the Dalian Intermediate People's Court heard this criminal case, Liu's motive for murder also came to light.

"His eyes were red, his gaze straight, looking like he was about to go crazy!" At around 8:30 AM on June 16th this year, a customer entered a small grocery store in Zhoujia Village, Changcheng Street, Lushunkou District. This customer was also leaning on an iron cane. This person was the 50-year-old villager Liu. As soon as he entered the store, the owner Xu felt that his demeanor was somewhat off.

We learned that after the court made its first-instance judgment on this civil case, the defendant appealed, and the case was sent back for retrial. When Liu committed the murder, the civil case with him as the plaintiff was still under trial without a final conclusion. However, the once-plaintiff Liu became the defendant in a criminal case due to a momentary impulse.

Police officers who arrived at the crime scene found villager Wang lying in a pool of blood. Not far from him, his wife was also lying on the ground, both having died from severe head injuries. "I killed two people with my cane, I have come to surrender." At the entrance of the village police booth, Liu was sitting alone. Upon seeing the police officers, he handed over the iron cane in his hand and indicated that he wished to surrender.

"After killing someone, I sang while walking towards the police booth; I wanted to tell the police that I had killed someone..." After being arrested, Liu confessed to the murder process. Originally, on the morning of June 16th this year, Liu went out for a stroll and encountered villager Wang. Due to existing conflicts between them, Liu started cursing Wang, leading to an argument. Liu then immediately conceived the idea of killing Wang. He raised the iron cane and struck Wang, who fell to the ground. Liu continued hitting Wang with the iron cane until Wang no longer moved.

"I didn't do it intentionally." During the court's hearing of this intentional homicide case, defendant Liu confessed in court. Regarding the attached civil lawsuit initiated by the victim's family, Liu showed no objection but claimed that he was unable to compensate. Liu's defense lawyer argued that since Liu surrendered voluntarily, they requested leniency from the court.

After committing the murder, Liu didn't walk far when Wang's wife caught up from behind. Liu swung the cane again and continued his brutality, killing Wang's wife. After the crime, Liu leaned on the cane, singing, walking towards the police booth. Since there was no one in the booth, and wanting a cigarette but lacking a lighter, he went to Xu's grocery store. After buying items, he returned to the entrance of the police booth.

What Xu did not expect was that just minutes earlier, a murder case had occurred in the village, where the elderly couple, villagers Wang, were brutally murdered. "At the time, I heard someone arguing, then it got quiet," Around 8 AM that day, villager Guo heard arguing outside. Ten minutes later, he and another villager Zhou went out and discovered someone lying on the road, bleeding from the head, looking very much like villager Wang. Guo immediately called the police.

The perpetrator turned himself in with a cane.
