At around 4:40 AM on July 25, the No. 4 pier of Thorough Bridge was broken by a boulder, causing the collapse of two spans and a total of 60 meters of bridge deck, and seven vehicles fell while driving on the bridge. So far, six people have been killed and twelve injured in the accident, and National Road 213 has been interrupted. Since under the collapsed bridge deck there is mainly a gravel beach of the river bank, no vehicle fell into Minjiang River. Among the twelve injured people, eleven are receiving treatment at the People's Hospital of Wenchuan County; the most seriously injured patient has been sent to West China Hospital of Sichuan University for emergency treatment. After rescue operations, the emergency traffic channel leading to Thorough Bridge and connecting with the other bank of Minjiang River that was damaged by the mud-rock flow has been reopened, and large-scale mechanical equipment has successively entered the site for construction. At present, the transportation department has started traffic control, and except for trucks, passenger cars with less than nine seats will be allowed to pass on odd or even days respectively.
