Qizheng Zhao answered the recent self-immolation incidents of monks in Tibetan areas.
According to media reports, in the past year or so, there have been a series of monks' self-immolation incidents in Tibet, Sichuan Tibetan area, Garze, Ngawa and Yushu in Qinghai, with more than 20 cases altogether. The Chinese government believed that these were instigated by separatist forces outside China. However, some analysts thought that the local stability maintenance officials and the government's religious policies which were sometimes brutal or high-pressure ones were the reasons for the monks' self-immolations.
