ECNS, May 14 -- According to the website of the Ministry of Communications of China, feedback from the frontline in disaster relief showed that all expressways in Sichuan had been restored and unblocked. However, about a 300km section of three national and provincial trunk highways centering on Wenchuan were still in traffic interruption. The specific highway damage was not fully grasped because of the poor communication.
Currently, in Sichuan Province, the No.105 provincial road from An County to Beichuan in Mianyang was interrupted at Renjiaping, 3km away from the Beichuan county seat; the No.105 provincial road from Deyang through Shifang to Jianyang had been repaired and unblocked, but there were potential safety hazards in the bridges on the No.105 provincial road from Shifang through Jianyang to An County, and the current situation was still under investigation; the No.317 national road from Dujiangyan to Wenchuan in Aba was interrupted, the Gergou section in Lixian county was interrupted, the situation of the Gergou to Wenchuan section was unknown, the basic situation of the Partridge Mountain tunnel was normal, the No.303 provincial road from Xiaojin to Zhuoqi section and from Xiaojin to Balang Mountain section had been repaired and unblocked, the No.210 provincial road from Xiaojin to Jiajin Mountain was interrupted, the situation of the No.303 provincial road from Yingxiu to Rizhu was unclear; the basic situation of the Erlang Mountain tunnel on the No.318 national road in Garze was normal; the No.211 provincial road from Wasigu to Danba collapsed near the Jin Kang Bridge, causing traffic interruption; the No.210 provincial road from Baoxing to Jiajin Mountain section in Ya'an was in traffic interruption; there were at least five collapses on more than 40km road from Pengzhou to Yinchang Valley, the Xiaoyudong Bridge collapsed, the Tongji Bridge had displacement, and the Guan Pass Bridge on the No.106 provincial road on the western Sichuan tourism ring line had displacement.
Affected by the earthquake, partial sections of the No.316 national road, the No.210 provincial road and the No.310 provincial road in Shaanxi province experienced collapse, which had now been completely repaired and unblocked. Currently, the Xihan Expressway leading to Sichuan and other three ordinary national and provincial trunk highways were all operating normally. The highways and ordinary national and provincial trunk highways in Chongqing were all operating normally. Longnan area in Gansu was relatively severely damaged, with about 280 sections experiencing mountain collapse and overall displacement. After hard repair work, the damaged highways had basically returned to normal passage. In Zhongxiang within Jingmen city in Hubei province, transverse penetrating cracks and arch circle deformation appeared at the culverts at K18+600 and K26+950 on the No.331 provincial road. Currently, half of the road was under repair while the other half was open for traffic; the Lion Bridge at K59+670 on the No.001 county road in Shayang county experienced arch foot displacement and the traffic had been closed; health conditions of roads, bridges and tunnels in other cities and states were being further tested. Kunming, Zhaotong, Dali, Chuxiong and Diqing in Yunnan province suffered different degrees of disaster losses, mainly involving more than 160 rural roads. (By Peng Yan)
