At 2 PM on November 23rd, more than two hundred elementary school students in Gutian County, Ningde City, Fujian Province stopped classes and stood by the roadsides inside the courtyard of the county government building wearing school uniforms to welcome provincial leaders and media members who were coming for a meeting. At half past three, the guests arrived and entered amid cries of "Warmly Welcome!" The children then left to return to school and continue their studies.

This seminar was sponsored by the Fujian Provincial Culture Research Association and the Ningde Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), hosted by the Gutian County CPPCC, and co-hosted by the Buddhist Association of Ningde City and the Jile Temple of Gutian County. More than a hundred representatives from all sectors concerned with the culture of Yuan Ying attended the seminar, including He Shaochuan, former Deputy Secretary of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and President of the Fujian Yanhuang Culture Research Association, Liu Xuezhong, Permanent Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Ningde Municipal Committee of the CPC, Lan Xunfei, Director of the Ningde Municipal Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, Lin Hongjian, Chairman of the Ningde Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, Xianzhi, President of the Buddhist Association of Ningde City, member of the Ningde Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, and Abbot of Ziguosi Temple in Fuding, Benxing, Vice President of the Buddhist Association of Fujian Province and Abbot of Kaiyuan Temple in Fuzhou, Huang Xianian, Editor-in-Chief of the World Religious Culture published by the Institute of World Religions of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Xu Xinqi of the School of Social History of Fujian Normal University, Master Wuduan, Abbot of Xilin Temple in Songjiang District, Shanghai, and Master Dingkong, Abbot of Jile Temple in Gutian.

Upon seeing this news, even the editor was at a loss for words. Were the brains of the school leaders waterlogged or what? Is it that important to put on a show for the leaders that more than two hundred elementary school students had to stop class for it? Truly pitiful!
