The latest published list of the world's 100 most livable cities shows eight mainland Chinese cities made the cut.

ECNS, August 31 -- According to the Central News Agency, the Economist Intelligence Unit of Britain released the latest livable cities report in the world. Melbourne in Australia beat the perennial favorite Vancouver in Canada and became the most livable city in the world. Eight cities of mainland China are on the list and Beijing ranked 72 which is the best rank among these cities. Taipei ranked 61, same as the previous survey, and Hong Kong ranked 31, the highest among the cities of the three areas on each side of the Taiwan Straits.
