In the afternoon of the same day, reporters called the Student Affairs Office, Publicity Department and Security Office of Jiangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine respectively for confirmation, and were all told that nothing like that had ever happened in the school. A staff member of the Publicity Department of the Party Committee of Jiangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine said in an interview with a reporter that this matter was totally nonexistent. As for the contents on Weibo and Baidu Tieba, he hoped to clarify the facts through the media.
When the reporter was writing the story, the school authorities specially sent a "situation report on untrue posts in our school" to the website. The report stated that, "On the evening of May 8, 2011, a post titled 'Foreigners in Jiangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine brutally raped female students!' appeared on the Baidu Tieba, followed by many replies. Our school paid high attention to it and quickly conducted a serious investigation. The investigation showed that the post on Baidu Tieba was purely a rumor and fabrication, and there was absolutely no such thing. All teachers and students in the school felt indignant and despised at this kind of irresponsible and malicious rumor-mongering behavior. Our school reserves the right to safeguard the reputation of the school according to law, and calls on all sectors of society and the media to rationally view such online events and jointly maintain a harmonious social order."
