Around 5:40 AM on the morning of August 5th, a taxi driving to the Baohua Road entrance underpass at Longtousi Train Station was submerged in water that reached a depth of 1.58 meters. Two passengers drowned, three other passengers climbed onto the roof of the car to be rescued, and the driver swam away to safety. Local media have reported on the incident, which has caused a strong reaction from the public as they think of ways to prevent similar incidents from happening again. It is understood that among the deceased were a two-year-old boy and an adult woman who was sitting in the left rear seat of the taxi at the time. It is likely that her inability to open the left rear door of the taxi delayed her escape attempt and cost her her life.
