Yesterday, the Hangzhou Public Security Bureau held a second press briefing on the "8·4" traffic accident case, during which it announced the latest progress in the investigation and released part of the surveillance video from that night.
The offending vehicle was confirmed to be speeding,
and the incident occurred about 10 meters away from the zebra crossing.
The speed of Wei Zhigang's Porsche Cayenne at the time of the collision was one of the issues of greatest concern. Deputy Director of the Hangzhou Public Security Bureau and Director of the Traffic Police Brigade, Zhao Yelonng, said that according to the testimonies of three eyewitnesses at the scene (all of them were motor vehicle drivers, one of whom was a taxi driver) as well as Wei Zhigang's confession, the speed of the offending vehicle when it passed through the accident location exceeded the maximum speed limit (60 kilometers per hour) for that section of road.
