Xinhua News Agency, Changchun, July 27 (reported by Chu Xiaoliang and Yao Shi) - On July 24, a mass incident occurred at the Tonghua Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. of Jilin Tongseng Group. Some employees gathered in the factory premises to protest against the corporate restructuring they were dissatisfied with and opposed Jianlong Group of Hebei to increase capital and expand shares in Tonggang Group. The protest once caused the shutdown of seven blast furnaces in the factory. Chen Guojun, general manager dispatched to Tonghua Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. by Jianlong Group, was beaten and died afterwards. In the afternoon of July 27, Wang Xidong, deputy director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Jilin Province, first announced the course of this incident at a press conference held by the Information Office of the People's Government of Jilin Province.
