According to the bulletin from the Beijing Municipal Government News Office, at 17:30 on July 28th, Liu Mou, a driver from Shandong Province, was driving a Dongfeng Tianlong semi-trailer truck north to south in the third lane at the 18.1-kilometer mark on the inner loop of the East Fifth Ring Road in Chaoyang District, Beijing. Liu claimed that a small passenger vehicle in front of his truck braked suddenly, causing him to swerve left while braking. This resulted in the truck crossing over the central barrier and colliding with three small passenger vehicles traveling south to north. The accident caused six people to die at the scene, one person died after failing to be revived in the hospital, and one person was injured.
