May 28 is a traditional Chinese festival - "Dragon Boat Festival". Due to the leap fifth month of the lunar calendar this year, many citizens have questioned whether there should be two "Dragon Boat Festivals", eating zongzi twice, and having two holidays. Folklore experts stated that despite this year being the leap fifth month of the lunar calendar, there is only one "Dragon Boat Festival".
"Dragon Boat Festival" three-day holiday
The anticipation of the public regarding the leap fifth month of the lunar calendar mostly relates to the holiday of the "Dragon Boat Festival". However, according to the holiday regulations already announced by the General Office of the State Council, the holiday period will be from May 28 to May 30, for a total of 3 days. Among them, May 28 (Thursday, the day of the lunar Dragon Boat Festival) is a statutory holiday, May 30 (Saturday) is a regular day off, and the public holiday on May 31 (Sunday) will be moved to May 29 (Friday). May 31 (Sunday) will be a working day.
