Introduction to The Oath of the Sea plot: One evening at sunset, childhood Ouyang was stranded in a northern coastal town. Both of his parents were police officers but they had both passed away. So, Ouyang lived with an uncle in the town who was a very passionate person with only one hobby - drinking. The uncle also liked a woman named Aunt Wenxi, who had also drifted to the small town from the provincial city. Wenxi and Ouyang became close playmates. There was another girl their age named Ye Yu whose parents were in Hong Kong and she was raised by her grandmother in the town. The three of them were in the same class. There was also another girl named Liu Xiaofen, Wenxi's neighbor. Her mother was called Xu Yanqiu, a notoriously flirtatious woman in the town. Xu Yanqiu had affairs with many men in the town but she favored Ouyang's uncle, so she greatly disliked Aunt Wenxi.
