Being funny is his nature; pretending to be foolish is his weapon; and hemorrhoids are his secret. Despite barely being considered cute, he unfortunately meets Cindy, the campus beauty, at first sight and falls deeply in love with her. However, Zhuang's path to romance is not smooth. The first time he meets Cindy, he gets beaten up by her. The second time they meet, she gives him a limited-edition ugly person card. Determined to improve himself, after relentless efforts, it seems like Cindy is slowly beginning to accept him. But life is always full of thorns and hardships, and Cindy still rejects him, choosing instead to pursue the handsome leader of the basketball club. Once again, Zhuang suffers an unbearable blow. At this point, Qiaoping from the Pigeon Racing Club unexpectedly confesses her feelings for Zhuang. Si Si (played by Nino Lee)

Age: 20 years old

Major: Second-year student in the Information Management Department

Clubs: Pigeon Racing Research Club, Campus Seven Great Mysteries Truth Investigation Committee

Roommate No. 1 of Zhuang, full of strange ideas. His special talent is telling corny jokes, and his forte is making people mentally exhausted within a minute. Spending more than an hour with him would make one feel as if it’s a battle to the death, with a solemn determination to eradicate evil. As the vice president of the Pigeon Club, Si Si claims that besides dedicating himself to researching pigeon education psychology, he has contributed greatly to the campus, though he has never received recognition from teachers and classmates (Editor's note: Do you think everyone is as brain-damaged as you?). Lao Wang the pigeon is Si Si's only soulmate. Just one glance is enough, without any extra words, to understand each other’s intentions. This touching story of mutual support and care between a man and a pigeon transcends species and fills one with deep emotion.

A Kang (played by Zhang Xun Jie)

Age: 21 years old

Major: Second-year student in the Information Management Department

Clubs: Pigeon Racing Research Club

Roommate No. 2 of Zhuang, also the founder and president of the Pigeon Racing Research Club. Always looking smug and self-assured, A Kang considers himself a ladies' man and enjoys acting as Zhuang's love counselor. His famous saying is: "A good teacher makes you tired of giving out cards, while a bad teacher makes you soft when receiving cards!" (Editor's note: Referring to 'good person cards'). Although that's what he says, what drives Zhuang crazy is that following his advice never seems to lead to good results! Moreover, despite his passion for basketball, he conceals his exceptional ball skills.

Xu Xinting (played by Zeng Kai Xian)

Age: 20 years old

Major: Second-year student in the Business Management Department

Clubs: Gourmet Club

Nickname: Gangmei (Means four times prettier than a regular pretty girl, the latest term among young people)

Height 163 cm, with chestnut-colored long hair, and a cold yet elegant style, Cindy is always the center of attention wherever she goes. Though suitors keep coming forward, Cindy always coldly refuses them, issuing good person cards without hesitation. When Zhuang musters all his courage to confess to her, she even issues him a limited-edition ugly person card, completely shattering his dream of being handsome. Nobody knows that beneath Cindy's cold exterior lies a delicate heart. Because she secretly loves Zhao Wei (Stephen), her deceased sister's boyfriend, she doesn't look at other boys her age. But Zhao Wei always sees Cindy as a little sister.

Introduction to the Plot of Turns Out I'm Not Handsome

Since he can remember, "Zhuang" has always thought of himself as a handsome guy, and this belief is not baseless. From childhood to adulthood, whether relatives, elders, snack stall owners, girls filling out questionnaires, ticket scalpers, or classmates borrowing notes, everyone always sincerely calls him "Handsome Guy." So, naturally, he believed he was indeed handsome... The person who woke Zhuang up from this handsome dream was none other than his two classmates and best friends—Si Si, a roommate full of strange ideas, brimming with humor, and as the vice president of the Pigeon Club, whose only soulmate is the pigeon "Lao Wang." And A Kang, a self-proclaimed playboy and founder/president of the Pigeon Research Club, who talks about love experiences but whose advice always leads to failure when followed.

In fact, Zhuang's connection with Cindy started much earlier, even before they entered university. They had an (imperfect) encounter once. For Cindy, he even joined the Gourmet Club. Zhuang gathered all his courage to confess to Cindy, only to hear her coolly reply, "No." Feeling as if he'd been shot in the chest, he struggled to ask why. Cindy looked at him and said, "Because you're too ugly." In that instant, it felt like he was hit by another bullet.

The tangled relationship between Cindy and Zhuang becomes even more complicated with the addition of the beautiful Qiaoping, forming a triangle. Meanwhile, Si Si, already in a relationship with the quirky girl Pinxuan, no longer has time to care about Zhuang. And A Kang encounters the toughest love triangle of his life, unable to help Zhuang because he's dealing with his own romantic entanglement with Mannan. These three brothers-in-arms weave together a super romantic campus comedy filled with laughter through tears and exhaustion through smiles.
