How many secrets are hidden in the Qianling strange circles?
Qianling, is the only empress tomb in Chinese history, the only tomb burying two emperors as a couple, and the only undisturbed Tang Dynasty imperial tomb verified by the archaeology circle so far.
However, the mystery of Qianling goes far beyond that. Recently, several "strange circles" of different sizes were displayed on aerial photographs of Qianling. Are they regional divisions or military defensive moats? Are they crop circles or burial mounds accompanying the Qianling Mausoleum?
"The Qianling Strange Circles (Part 1)"
In 2006, researcher Qin Jianming from the Xi'an Cultural Relics Preservation and Restoration Center discovered a strange circle on an aerial photograph taken near Qianling in 1984. This circle was astonishingly regular, with a diameter of around 110 meters. However, no trace of any circle was found during on-site investigations. People had various speculations about it. Some believed that the photo was fake, and that the circle did not exist, making it all nonsense. The "Approaching Science" program investigated this matter and found aerial photographs from 1984 at the Shaanxi Provincial Geographic Information Center. Since the 1984 aerial photos clearly showed traces of the circle, why were there no traces found on-site? Could it be a man-made crop circle phenomenon from back then? Subsequently, experts also discovered more than ten other very regular small circles on aerial photographs from 1968. Why can't we find this large circle at the scene now? Does it still exist?
CCTV-10 "Approaching Science" aired on January 29, 2007, at 20:30.
