Plot Introduction

"Beautiful Colors" is a film that portrays the emotional life of contemporary Chinese transgender individuals, based on real characters and stories. The main character of the film, a transgender person named Xiao Qi, is modeled after a real person named Liu Siqi, who underwent gender reassignment surgery at the Henan Plastic Surgery Hospital in early 2005, transforming from a young man into a woman. This physiological change brought about significant psychological transformations, and after the surgery, Xiao Qi experienced a tumultuous emotional life. As a boy, Xiao Qi had a secret crush on a masculine and suave male fashion model named Lei (played by renowned model Ma Jian), but never received any attention from him. After transitioning, Xiao Qi concealed her identity and moved next door to Lei, simply wishing to quietly admire her idol from afar.
