"IRIS", Korea's first spy action TV series, is set against the backdrop of the National Security Agency (NSS) and tells the story of the struggles between NSS agents and a criminal organization. With a budget of 20 billion won, the show features three major male stars - Lee Byung-hun, Jung Jun-ho, and Kim Jung-woo - along with actresses Kim Tae-hee and Kim So-eun. Additionally, T.O.P from the popular Korean group BigBang joins the cast, making for an incredibly strong lineup.
"IRIS" narrates the stories of special agents in Korea's National Security Agency amidst rapidly changing global situations. Lee Byung-hun plays Hyun-joon, an agent of the National Security Agency (NSS), who constantly finds himself in danger due to his work. His lover, also an NSS agent, Seung-hee (played by Kim Tae-hee), finally gets a vacation with Hyun-joon (played by Lee Byung-hun). They travel to Akita, Japan, to enjoy the beautiful snow scenery. However, their sweet date turns into a pursuit battle with lurking assassins. The female assassin played by Kim So-eun was originally supposed to kill Hyun-joon but ends up being attracted to him, falling in love with the National Security Agency agent who stands on the opposite side. Jung Jun-ho and Kim Jung-woo play astute agents who get caught up in suffocating espionage battles. The appearance of the ruthless assassin played by T.O.P makes the plot even more intense and complex.

Secret agent Kim Hyun-joon (played by Lee Byung-hun) and his colleague Chen Si-yu (played by Jung Jun-ho) are close friends but both secretly have feelings for their superior Choi Seung-hee (played by Kim Tae-hee). Later, Hyun-joon and Seung-hee develop a romantic relationship. One day, Hyun-joon accepts a secret mission. During the mission, due to Si-yu's betrayal, he encounters a direct conflict with North Korea's secret agent Jeong-yong (played by Kim Jung-woo) and Sun-hwa (played by Kim So-eun), resulting in him getting injured by gunfire. Hyun-joon survives thanks to a mysterious "voice" and thereby learns about the existence of the secret organization "Iris". After a year of numerous twists and turns, Hyun-joon finally returns to the National Security Department. At the founding ceremony of the civilian organization "Unification Committee", which supports the unification of North and South Korea, Hyun-joon is responsible for the security of the scene and once again unexpectedly encounters the anti-unification organization "Iris".
