In memory of the recently deceased King of Pop Michael Jackson, Sony's concert film "The End" will premiere globally for a limited two-week run starting October 28. Today, the film releases its first poster, with the King of Pop revealed in an open-armed dance pose, his silhouette bringing back memories of unforgettable stage performances for fans.
The memorial concert film "The End" (This Is It) released its first trailer at the MTV Awards. Alongside the trailer, a precious video clip from Michael's last rehearsal was also released, allowing MJ fans to ease their longing before the film's official release.
The English title "This Is It" was originally the name of the 50 concerts Michael Jackson planned to hold from July this year to March next year, as his final farewell to music.
This film is produced by AEG Live, the original organizer of Jackson's farewell concert, compiling hundreds of hours of footage taken during Jackson's rehearsals, carefully edited and paired with behind-the-scenes features, fully showcasing Jackson's personal involvement in every aspect of the concert preparation: song selection, dance, stage design, choreography, music, and lighting.
"The End" is directed by Kenny Ortega, who collaborated with Jackson on planning the concert and also directed the movie "High School Musical." The film includes new videos specifically prepared by Jackson for the concert, including a new version of the classic hit "Thriller." The movie is completed with high-resolution visuals and advanced digital sound effects, with some scenes presented in 3D for a more immersive experience, highlighting Jackson's singing and dancing and the grandeur of the stage setting to give fans a stronger sense of "being there." The film also includes behind-the-scenes footage of Jackson's rehearsals for a series of performances in London. Part of the box office revenue will go to the Jackson estate to fund the care of Jackson's mother Katherine and his three children, with some proceeds going to charity.
This film has passed censorship smoothly and will be simultaneously released in mainland China on October 28 along with the global premiere.
