Special Contention Synopsis:
Co-produced by China TV Drama Production Center and Beida Starlight Group, the cultural espionage drama "Special Contention" (original name: "To Yan'an") has begun airing on CCTV-8's prime time slot. The drama features renowned domestic actors such as Zhou Yang, Liu Xi Yuan, alongside rising stars Jia Ru Yu and Dong Jin in leading roles. Before its premiere, Jia Ru Yu unveiled a series of glamorous outfits from the 1940s representing the 'overseas returnees', delighting audiences who got a sneak preview.
Mentioning espionage dramas, many people immediately think of the nationwide hit "Infiltration", or the previously highly-rated "Special Mission". It is reported that the production team behind "Special Contention" consists of the same crew from "Special Mission", jointly produced by China TV Drama Production Center and top domestic producer Li Gongda. The script was penned by Tan Li, the writer of "Special Mission", and directed by Yan Yi, known for his work on popular dramas like "The Great Qin Empire" and "Zhang Daqian". As a result, this drama is hailed as the sister piece to "Special Mission".
Titled as a "red suspense drama", "Special Contention" could also be seen as a "red idol drama" with its lineup of handsome actors and beautiful actresses. Not only is lead actor Dong Jin considered a new representative of idol actors, but the three female leads - Jia Ru Yu, Zhou Yang, and Liu Xi Yuan - each possess their unique beauty, garnering much attention even before the show's premiere.
Jia Ru Yu portrays 'Ye Zi' in "Special Contention", a female doctor who has returned after studying medicine abroad. Ye Zi is not only pure and kind-hearted but also a pillar of the nation.
