The 28-episode TV series *Village of Women*, which aired last night on CCTV Channel 8's prime time slot, follows the theme of "women left behind in rural areas". Wang Qianhua, who played Song Tianhao, the eldest sister in *Crossing Northeast - Part II*, will play a competent female village secretary in this inspiring drama.
*Village of Women* tells a story about how rural women in the new era selflessly dedicate themselves and strive to create a happy life. Zhangling Village at the foot of the mountain is a well-known poverty-stricken village both near and far. In order to get rich, all the men in the village have gone to the city to work. Apart from the elderly and children, Zhangling Village has truly become a "village of women." Zhang Xifeng (played by Wang Qianhua), the director of the Women's Representative Committee, leads the women in the village to start an ecological breeding project, establish a "Women Mutual Assistance Consortium," and also looks towards deep processing projects... With the tremendous changes in Zhangling Village, the status of rural women is also quietly changing.
*Village of Women* is the first TV series produced with the participation of the All-China Women's Federation. Zhang Xiaoyuan, Deputy Minister of the Publicity Department of the Women's Federation, said that with the transfer of rural labor force to cities, the previous "men plow and women weave" situation in rural areas has now turned into "men work in factories and women till the fields." As a work themed around rural women left behind, left-behind children, and the work of rural women's federations, it is hoped that *Village of Women* can allow more people to understand the current living conditions of rural women and improve their social status.
The screenwriter of this drama, Zhang Ji, was also the screenwriter for the first two parts of the previously popular provincial satellite TV series *Rural Love*. He stated that this TV series continues his consistent dramatic style. In this drama, he uses various relationships and conflicts to vividly portray the image of the protagonist as a grassroots female cadre of the new era who is educated and capable. He said, "This drama will not be worse than *Rural Love*."
Yan Xuejing, a performer of Errenzhuan, will change her pure and cute image as Shanxing in *Old Liu's Inn* and play a selfish, narrow-minded, but smart and capable shrew. Wang Qianhua, who was widely praised as a "rural woman" in *The Mistress*, this time ties her hair into a ponytail, wears T-shirts and jeans, and portrays the current state of today's rural women cadres: educated, capable, and popular among women.
