The Japanese manga "BLEACH" (original title, in Japanese as "γγͺγΌγ"), translated in Hong Kong as "Piao Ling" and in mainland China as "Deadman", is a work by Japanese mangaka Tite Kubo, whose real name is Kubo Nobuaki. The manga has reached 38 volumes so far, with sales reaching 50 million copies. New chapters are currently being serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump.
The "Deadman" manga has now been translated into multiple versions including Chinese and English. Like many other famous series, it has been adapted into an anime, produced by Studio Pierrot. Due to the faster pace of animation episodes compared to manga chapters, the animation began airing original content from episode 64 onwards. There have also been multiple instances of alternating broadcasts between original content and manga plotlines, a common format in long-running serialized anime.
The protagonist, Kurosaki Ichigo, is a seemingly frail but passionate young boy who can see spirits. One night, when the Shinigami Rukia Kuchiki was kicked by him into the corner of the wall and looked at him in astonishment asking "Can you see me?", thus the curtain was officially raised by his kick. From that moment on, everything around Kurosaki Ichigo changed completely. Rukia Kuchiki, claiming to be a Shinigami, told Ichigo that her job was to perform soul burials and guide souls to a place called the Soul Society. At the time, a Hollow was nearby, his father was mysteriously severely injured, and his sister fainted in front of him. Kurosaki Ichigo's exaggerated spiritual power unlocked the Shinigami's Kidou on its own, shocking Rukia's eyes. With no other choice, Ichigo obtained Rukia's powers and became a Shinigami. Wearing the black Shinigami uniform, his Zanpakuto changed shape and grew larger due to his spiritual pressure.
