On the 18th, TBS announced that veteran actor Koichi Satoh will star in a drama adaptation of renowned economic novelist Saburo Shiroyama's famous novel "The Bureaucrats' Summer." The show is scheduled to air at 9 PM in July.

This book was serialized in "Weekly Asahi" and published in 1975. Koichi Satoh plays Fukanobu Kazuki, the vice-minister for industry with a strong sense of responsibility to rebuild post-war Japan. Satoh commented: "This drama is an excellent project not seen in the past 10 to 20 years. It must become a unique television series in today's TV industry. I personally feel it’s very challenging."

Due to Japanese administrative reforms, the public now has a particularly negative impression of high-ranking bureaucrats. Producer Hideki Izuno decided to produce this drama: "I hope viewers can see how these men worked hard to lead the previously internationally uncompetitive automobile and electrical industries to their current level. I hope everyone can witness their proud work." Koichi Satoh also passionately said: "There's a kind of masculinity in them that today's 'herbivore men' lack."

Also starring alongside Satoh are Kin'ya Kitaoji, Masato Ibu, Katsuhito Takahashi, and Noritaka Takahashi— all actors over 40 with solid acting skills. A senior official from TBS stated: "We hope viewers will be inspired on Sunday evenings and start the week's work on Monday with great enthusiasm."
