Synopsis of "Thirty Years of Wind and Rain" Episode 02: "Thirty Years of Wind and Rain" (An Ode To Life), a Singapore Mediacorp Channel 8 costume drama series, first aired from August 10, 2004 to October 4, 2004, with a total of 40 episodes. In "Thirty Years of Wind and Rain," A Zhi is an innocent village girl who originally fell in love with a painter named Qi Ming, but was deceived by her mother into marrying into a wealthy family. Her husband, Wen Shou, often self-harms due to his illness, making him very introverted and closed off, yet he falls in love with A Zhi at first sight. After A Zhi marries into the family, a series of unfortunate events happen to the Zhang family. The superstitious mother-in-law blames everything on A Zhi, thinking she's a bad omen, and gradually becomes hostile towards her. Despite this, A Zhi faces the family members with kindness, not minding their scheming and attempts to harm her. Gradually, she sees the good qualities and care that Wen Shou has for her, and they start to build feelings for each other. A Zhi's father-in-law, Zhang Yaokun, sees the virtues of sincerity in A Zhi that his own children lack, and begins to value her, inviting her to work at the company. With the nourishment of love, Wen Shou's health improves day by day, and Zhang Yaokun starts letting Wen Shou take on important roles in the company. Wen Fu, the eldest son, and Wen Si, the fourth daughter of Zhang Yaokun, feel threatened by Wen Shou and A Zhi. Wen Fu openly shows hostility towards them, often causing trouble and leaving them to clean up the mess. Wen Si, who is cunning, skillfully slanders A Zhi but often ends up shooting herself in the foot, making Zhang Yaokun value A Zhi even more.
