"Header to the Ground" tells the story of a poor but fiery-hearted player named Cha Bong-geun, his miraculous success in a third-rate life, and the humanitarianism portrayed in this TV drama.

In the series, Cha Bong-geun is an unlucky footballer who has faced three critical moments without achieving victory. He harbors the grand dream of becoming a national team player and lives with passion. This is a romantic love story between Cha Bong-geun (played by Jung Yun-ho), a man who lacks technique but has a fervent heart for football, and Kang Ha-bin (played by Ko Ara), a girl born with everything but still wanting to create her dreams with her own hands.

Jung Yun-ho plays Cha Bong-geun, a soccer player with an unfortunate life, who manages to win championships three times through sheer determination, completing the impossible task of entering the national team. Ko Ara plays Kang Ha-bin, the daughter of a baseball team owner, who hopes to hide her identity and become a respected soccer agent in the male-dominated world by using her true self. She is captivated by an unknown soccer player's powerful shot during an industrial match, and their feelings grow amidst constant arguments.

Lee Yoon-ji plays Oh Yeon, a neighbor and classmate of Cha Bong-geun (Yunho), who only knows how to play soccer and often causes trouble. They have been classmates since middle school, and later she works as a nutritionist in the professional soccer team that Cha Bong-geun is part of, holding deep feelings for him. Amidst their constant bickering, Oh Yeon senses subtle emotions from Cha Bong-geun, leading to a triangular relationship involving sports coach Kang Ha-bin (Gao Yara) and Cha Bong-geun. Lee Yoon-ji's character Oh Yeon maintains a friendly relationship with Cha Bong-geun.
