Continuing from the previous season's storyline, DIE, under Lang's leadership, repeatedly solves bizarre cases and eventually gets to "dissolve honorably." Apart from Jingjing taking maternity leave temporarily and Sir Fei retiring back to his hometown in Scotland, the rest return to their former workplaces. However, everyone's quirky personalities and styles remain unchanged, continuing to give headaches to their superiors and face exclusion at work.
During a large official event, the former members of DIE gather on-site for various tasks. Jing, who happens to be nearby with her baby, mistakenly enters a restricted area while habitually attempting to arrest her arch-nemesis Big Mouth Ying, causing a chain reaction. Everyone becomes flustered, making the top police officer lose face... The blame falls on the police force’s upper management, which calls an emergency meeting. Luo Youheng, Lang's immediate superior, proposes reassembling DIE to get rid of these troublesome subordinates again. This group of many troubles but irreplaceable 'deadbeats' are gathered once more, left to fend for themselves. Since the original DIE supervisor, Sir Fei, has retired, Heng is forced onto the stage, accepting the heavy responsibility of supervising DIE.
Upon learning about the reformation of DIE, Jing feels itchy and asks Lang if she can end her maternity leave early and resume work. However, due to Lang's chauvinistic mindset, he uses small tricks to make Jing agree to take a year off, becoming a full-time mother to take care of the baby. Later, when Lang's tricks are discovered by Jing, she refuses to be manipulated by Lang and decides to apply for reinstatement independently. Jing returns to the Major Case Team and collaborates with newly arrived high-flyers. Their contrasting personalities and styles clash like Mars colliding with Earth. Heng, eager to quickly get rid of difficulties, continuously overworks everyone and deliberately splits DIE, forcing Lang and Jing to lead separate teams to compete in solving cases. Initially, both Lang and Jing just do their duties, but Lang, with his psychic abilities, solves case after case, putting his team far ahead in performance... Meanwhile, Jing accidentally discovers that the baby seems to have inherited Lang's traits, possessing unimaginable supernatural abilities.
