Introduction:
Story: Aliens invade Earth comprehensively.
Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) is a dockworker, young, fond of racing, a bit arrogant, and also an idle terrible father. His job is to operate a crane at the dock to load and unload containers for ships. His ex-wife Mary, who has a son and a daughter with him, can no longer endure Ray's idleness and irresponsibility, so they finally part ways.
Ray blames the world for his wife's departure but still neglects his children. However, this weekend, due to some matters, his ex-wife has to send the kids over for Ray to take care of. Unlike before, the sky suddenly becomes overcast with clouds, lightning striking the streets multiple times, as if something strange is about to happen. Ferrier notices that the lightning is a bit unusual, but he doesn't know that a catastrophic disaster is about to occur. Suddenly, an alien war vehicle buried underground leaps out from the road, throwing the small town into chaos.
In the critical moment, Ray, who usually lacks responsibility, suddenly shows the instinct of a father. He disregards his own safety, taking the children and fleeing for their lives. On the escape route, Ray spares no effort to protect his son and daughter. As the whole world falls into panic due to the large-scale attacks by alien creatures, they hide in a farmhouse on a hillside. A mysterious person leads them to the basement of the old house, but unexpectedly, the aliens are not the only threat they face...
