Plot of "Bullfight": The story background of "Bullfight" is set during the War of Resistance against Japan. The Communist International sent a Dutch dairy cow to China's anti-Japanese base area to provide nutrition for wounded soldiers. But because the Japanese were about to enter the village, the comrades from the base area had no choice but to retreat and entrusted the cow to a local villager for care. This villager is played by Huang Bo, who initially refused to take care of the cow. However, the village chief lured him into accepting the task by promising to marry him to Jiuer (played by Yan Ni). Who would have thought that this cow would force Huang Bo to outwit the Japanese soldiers, bandits, and wandering quacks. The experience of watching "Bullfight" was delightful – finally, in 2009, I saw an excellent mainland Chinese movie. Of course, we can always find traces of predecessors in a film work: you could say that "Bullfight" is a comedy version of "To Live," a human-animal version of "Devils on the Doorstep," or even a Chinese mountain village version of Guy Ritchie's films. The fact that "Bullfight" made me think of so many excellent movies already speaks to its quality.
