Plot of Eavesdropping: High-tech interrogation reveals the "dark" secrets of Hong Kong's stock market, personal greed triggers a financial collapse! The movie "Eavesdropping" is jointly produced by the teams behind "Infernal Affairs" and "Disciples," directed by Alan Mak and Felix Chong, produced by Derek Yee, starring Liu Qingyun, Louis Koo, and Tony Leung Ka-fai. Nationwide release on July 24th.
The Hong Kong securities market, with a global financial value once exceeding twenty trillion, is one of the most important capital concentration points on Earth! With a vigorous market momentum and active trading, it has attracted the covetous eyes of many financial tycoons who operate in legal loopholes, seeking to exploit gray areas for their share of profits. The top target is the mastermind nicknamed "Boss" (played by Michael Wong)! The police investigate suspected insider trading by the listed company "Fenghua International" and establish a covert eavesdropping team code-named "Chase Wind" for comprehensive investigation.
Eavesdropping expert Liang Junyi (played by Liu Qingyun) is the head of the team. During operations, he works alongside veteran officer Yang Zhen (Louis Koo) and rookie network genius Lin Yixiang (Tony Leung Ka-fai), responsible for monitoring the telephone systems in the offices and meeting rooms of several senior members of "Fenghua International." The three-man team infiltrates "Fenghua International," cleverly setting up various listening and surveillance devices, initiating their eavesdropping operation.
By chance, the trio overhears through their equipment that several senior members of "Fenghua International" are planning to manipulate the company's stock price from HK$0.2 to HK$1.2. Due to personal greed, they decide to conceal this information from their superiors and place bets in the stock market to earn this unexpected fortune. However, unbeknownst to them, their secret actions have already been observed by others... "Eavesdropping" focuses on financial crime investigations. In the film, Liu Qingyun, Louis Koo, and Tony Leung Ka-fai play members of the criminal intelligence eavesdropping team. Their mission is to catch the black hand behind illegal stock manipulation that exploits the hard-earned money of investors and bring them to justice. Unexpectedly, an accidental piece of intelligence causes these three righteous officers to change their minds. Thinking it was just a trivial small desire, which wouldn't be exposed or affect anyone, they never anticipated that this minor greed would lead to their demise. Ultimately, the three regret their mistakes, leaving behind lifelong regrets...
