Introduction of "Trickster B":
Continuing from the previous series, DIE (the Detective Investigation Ensemble), under the leadership of Long, successfully solved many bizarre cases and was eventually "honorably dissolved." Except for Crystal who is on maternity leave and Inspector Fee who has retired back to his hometown in Scotland, the rest of the team returned to their previous work positions. However, their quirky personalities and styles remain unchanged, continuing to give headaches to their superiors and facing exclusion at work.
During a large official event, the former members of DIE gather on-site for various tasks. Crystal, who happens to be nearby with her baby, instinctively tries to apprehend her arch-nemesis Big Mouth Ying, who is committing illegal activities, but mistakenly enters a restricted area. This triggers a chain reaction, causing chaos and embarrassment for the top police officer... The blame falls on the police hierarchy, leading to an emergency meeting. Long's immediate superior, Lo Yu Heng, seeing this as an opportunity to get rid of his troublesome subordinates, suggests reassembling DIE, concentrating these problematic yet irreplaceable employees together again, letting them fend for themselves. However, since the original head of DIE, Inspector Fee, has retired, Heng is thrust into the position, forced to take on the responsibility of leading DIE.
Crystal, upon hearing about the reformation of DIE, becomes eager to end her maternity leave and return to work. However, due to Long's patriarchal mindset, he tricks Crystal into agreeing to take a year-long break to focus on being a full-time mom and caring for the baby. Later, when Crystal uncovers Long's trickery, she decides to apply for reinstatement independently. Returning to the Serious Crime Unit, Crystal partners with a newly arrived high-achieving graduate whose personality and style clash greatly with hers, like Mars colliding with Earth. Moreover, having previously offended the top cop, her superiors fear that Crystal might jeopardize the unit and thus transfer her back to DIE as an excuse. Back at DIE, Crystal entrusts her baby to her extended family for care, which leads to disagreements between her mother and grandmother over childcare methods, resulting in constant arguments. To avoid family discord, Crystal's father demands that she personally take care of the baby, forcing her to bring the baby to work where her colleagues at DIE take turns looking after it, creating numerous comedic situations...
Heng, desperate to get rid of the difficulties, constantly overworks everyone and deliberately splits DIE, pressuring Long and Crystal to lead separate teams in competition to solve cases. Initially, both Long and Crystal perform their duties separately, but Long's psychic intuition helps him solve case after case, putting his team far ahead... Meanwhile, Crystal discovers that her baby seems to have inherited some of Long's abilities, possessing incredible supernatural powers that often predict answers to questions, helping Crystal make correct decisions and repeatedly escape danger. Doubtful yet hesitant to inform Long, Crystal secretly uses her baby's abilities to assist in investigations, impressing others. However, Long eventually learns about this and strongly disapproves, fearing it could negatively impact the baby's growth. Tensions rise between Long and Crystal. Around this time, Long reunites with his first love, Man Chuchu, and works hard to clear her of murder charges, causing Crystal to feel jealous and leading to a cold war between the couple... Unexpectedly, Xiao Yi reappears, but it turns out that this Xiao Yi isn't the real one... Due to his thoughts, Long dreams of Xiao Yi, who warns him in the dream that the life-and-death fate between him and Crystal remains unresolved. Although Crystal giving birth temporarily averted disaster, as the baby grows, misfortune will return, and Crystal will face mortal danger once again. Just as Long is skeptical, Zhen Xiangrong, the main villain from the previous series, reappears before Long and Crystal... It turns out that this person is actually Zhen Xiangrong's twin brother, Zhen Xianghua, who has been secretly hospitalized abroad due to mental issues and has now returned to enact his revenge plan...
As for Qing, seeing Long and Crystal marry and start a family, she feels it's time to pursue her own ideals and goes abroad to study alone. Yi doesn't take it seriously at first, waiting patiently for Qing to return and marry him. However, unknown to him, their relationship is already in crisis... Since Qing left Hong Kong, the business at Yixianqian has relied solely on Mei and Pei to keep it running. When Pei encounters difficulties at work, she seeks help from Yi, who, as a partial owner of Yixianqian, repeatedly endures hardships to assist her. Through this, Pei recognizes Yi's kindness, positivity, and optimism, admiring him greatly and becoming good friends. As time passes, Qing living abroad feels a change in her life goals and secretly reveals her intentions to Long and Crystal, hoping they can convince Yi not to wait for her any longer... This information is accidentally discovered by Pei, who feels it's unfair to Yi and can't bear to see him continue planning an impossible wedding. Thus, she teaches Yi various romantic methods to express his feelings to Qing abroad, hoping to salvage this precious relationship...
