Full series plot introduction of the Korean drama "Carousel":
A pair of tragic sisters strive to survive in society after encountering accidents such as their mother's suicide and their father's death. The sister, betrayed by her boyfriend, undergoes a drastic change in personality and resorts to any means necessary for success in order to seek revenge. Originally living in a wealthy and happy family, Joo Eun and her younger sister Joo Jin, along with their parents, faced hardships when their father's business failed. The family of four had to flee overnight to another place. The father initially planned to commit suicide with the entire family but was persuaded otherwise by the mother. They then led an extremely difficult life. It was hard for the Joo family to adapt to an environment so different from their past, but the parents had no choice but to do manual labor to support the family. Joo Eun's mother attempted suicide by cutting her wrists due to the stress but was saved. Later, Joo Eun's father, unable to work due to injuries, left the responsibility of supporting the family solely on the mother, leading to doubts about her actions...
Joo Eun: The female protagonist. Strong-willed and sensible, she originally lived in a very affluent family but moved to the countryside with her parents after her father’s business failure to start anew.
Joo Jin: Joo Eun's younger sister. Completely opposite in character to Joo Eun, she struggled more to adapt to the new environment, being soft-hearted and playful.
Seo Gi Hoon: Father of Joo Eun and Joo Jin. After his business failure, he moved to the countryside and later had to rest at home due to a back injury.
Xu Hai Lin: Mother of Joo Eun. She used to lead a very ordinary life but started working in a restaurant to maintain the household after the family's decline, still struggling to adapt to the drastically different environment.
Seong Biao: Joo Eun's high school classmate. Secretly in love with Joo Eun, he is a member of a band.
