Introduction to the plot of "Forever and Ever":
The fourth part of the long drama "Forever and Ever" will start airing two episodes daily on CCTV-8 at 5 PM starting from April 6, 2009. CCTV's "Forever and Ever" continues from Part 3, with a total of 168 episodes, continuing from the original version of Formosa TV's 280 episodes.
The first 168 episodes broadcast on CCTV mainly describe the protagonist Wang Shengtian's struggle to build his business from scratch, intertwined with his emotional entanglements with three women. Director Wang Wei stated that the second season's 160 episodes focus on the second generation of the main characters. As time goes by, Wang Shengtian and his younger brother Shengzhi shift their businesses towards electronics and trade with Japanese businessmen, becoming business rivals once again. Meanwhile, Shengtian and Lizhu's son Tianzhu has grown up but helps outsiders scheme against his own father. Lin Dazhong's wife Xuelian fell off a cliff and died in the first season, surprising many viewers. Wang Wei explained that this was because Han Yu, who played Xuelian, had to film another drama, so they designed this plot twist. However, since audiences liked Han Yu very much, they requested her character to "come back to life." Therefore, after she finished filming the other drama, a woman named Shanni who looks exactly like Xuelian was introduced into "Forever and Ever," causing ripples in Shengtian's heart as he still harbors feelings for Xuelian. In summary, the second season not only features conspiracies and calculations in the business world but also explores brotherly affection, father-son relationships, and mother-in-law-daughter-in-law dynamics, making it more exciting than the first season.
CCTV Film & Television Department Director Wang Guohui mentioned that before, CCTV had never introduced such a long TV series like "Forever and Ever," and initially, there wasn't much confidence regarding its ratings. Unexpectedly, the show, which aired at 5 PM, reached a peak viewership rate of 2.23%, higher than some prime-time dramas. The audience's demand for the continuation was very high, and the editorial office and film & television department received numerous calls every day. After fully considering the audience's opinions, another 160 episodes were quickly imported after the first season ended. Thus, "Forever and Ever" has already aired 328 episodes, and depending on the viewing rates, the remaining episodes have a significant possibility of being broadcasted. Viewers will be able to see the complete series of "Forever and Ever," while CCTV also sets a new record. With 526 episodes, "Forever and Ever" surpasses the Korean drama "Mermaid Story" to become the longest series. Moreover, "Forever and Ever" enriches CCTV's variety of dramas during the Spring Festival period. Zhao Benshan and Fan Wei starred in "Rural Love 2," which aired on February 9 on CCTV’s prime-time slot, a rural comedy featuring two of China's most popular comedians, creating a festive atmosphere fitting for the New Year. On CCTV's "Eight Prime Time," Qin Hailu and Liu Tao starred in "Flower of Women," an ancient costume drama, while "Forever and Ever," with its dramatic twists and turns in character fates, complements "Rural Love 2," providing viewers with different choices.
